Internships

The Berks County District Attorney’s office offers an internship program for law students throughout the year. This paid internship is designed for first and second year law students. The program exposes interns to all aspects of the District Attorney's Office. Interns are assigned to work closely with Assistant District Attorneys and assist them in case preparation and prosecution.

Law students, who are second year interns and who are certified by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania will handle preliminary hearings, pretrial hearings, miscellaneous hearings and other matters under the supervision of an Assistant District Attorney. First year interns will handle research, writing, and observe trials, pretrials, and other matters. Both first and second year law students will have the opportunity to observe crime scenes, autopsies and anything else in the standard course of business for the District Attorney's Office.

Interested students should send a cover letter, resume, school transcript and writing sample to Assistant District Attorney, Kevin Howard, Berks County District Attorney’s Office, 633 Court Street, Reading, PA, 19601. Or email to da@berkspa.gov

College students who are pursuing their undergraduate degree in the area of forensics or criminal investigations are encouraged to apply for an internship at the Berks County Detective Unit.
