It is the mission of the Berks County Jail System Honor Guard to represent the Berks County Jail System by providing honor to a deceased employee or retiree at the request of the deceased's family, and to provide comfort and compassion to the survivors. The Honor Guard also provides honors to staff during award ceremonies, graduation programs, and memorial services, enhancing unit cohesion and esprit de corps. 

Members of the Honor Guard shall demonstrate the highest level of integrity, loyalty, and honor at the Berks County Jail System and in the Corrections profession generally. Most importantly, only those individuals with a high degree of pride and the willingness to invest personal time should commit to become an Honor Guard member.

There is no higher honor than honoring one of our own.
